Government Day
The Miss Memorial Day Pageant works to introduce young women to their government. Our Queens become more aware of their government and how it affects their lives. Government Day is an opportunity for the girls to see first hand how their government is running. The Queens meet with female leaders in state government, tour the Georgia State Capital, view the House and Senate, enjoy the Georgia Museum, lunch at a Federal Building, view jobs available in the governmental sector, meet with the Governor and ask questions of their Governor. They become more aware of how their state government operates. The Miss Memorial Day Organization understands that by removing the mystery of government, our youth will see service to their state as a possibility. Voting and Volunteering make great leaders and our state is always in need of a new great leader.

Government Day 2007
After their meeting with state leaders and touring the Capitol, we realized that politics and pumps don't mix! Walking in the shoes of a leader is an awesome opportunity but painful none the less. So it was off with our heels after we left the building.
The gold dome of the Capital was a majestic backdrop for visiting Princess Brooke Martin.
It was Queen's Day at the Sam Nunn Federal Building as the queens were welcomed by managers Pam Kenney and Rose Redmond.
Miss Memorial Day 2007, Audra Gibson takes time to dream about the job and responsibilities that belong to the person that sits in the highest chair in the state.
Taking a stand on the marble stairs of the Capital, our Miss Memorial Day Queens and Princess are impressed with the inner workings of their state government and the beauty of their state capital. Government Day opens the minds to future visits into political opportunities.

Dacula Day The 2006 Miss Memorial Day Queens Sarah Nemar, Rachael Phillips and Tereese Smith pose before the city seal. The girls listened to pressing traffic and zoning issues brought before the Dacula City Council. They watch how city government works to improve the citizens lives. Meeting with the Mayor and Council members was enriching to the girls understanding of city government.
