| Miss Liberty The contestant with the highest score in the Red, White and Blue Fashion Show will win the title of Miss Liberty. You may wear anything as long as it is RED WHITE AND BLUE. It can be fun or classic. BE BOLD and COMPLETE. Scores are always higher when the outfit is complete with hat or hair accessory to shoes or boots. No pets. MISS INDEPENDENCE Our MISS& TEEN contestants, 14-23 years old, will have their personal interviews with the judges the day of the pageant. I will call you with your time slot. It will be a 4 minute interview. Please come prepared to interview for the job of MISS MEMORIAL DAY. Questions will be taken off your entry sheet so prepare. The contestant with the highest score in interview or introduction will be our Miss Independence Queen. Miss Spirit of America! Entry forms for the title(found online at Daculamemorialday) of Miss Spirit of America will be judged before the pageant so make sure your Miss Spirit of America forms are in by the 14th. Miss Spirit of America is a strong volunteer in her community. Print off & fill in the forms and turn them in with your entry form. | THE JUDGE'S EYE How will the judges pick a winner from so many qualified contestants? The Miss Memorial Day Pageant uses the following judging items when choosing a queen in the beauty portion of the pageant. For the interview process our criteria is quite different. Please look over the list and you will be able to judge with along with our judges. If the competition is close then you will notice the contestant with the most infectious personality will take the crown. Judging Criteria for Queens ___Modeling______________________________________________________________ -Natural gate and graceful walk -Tall posture with chin up, rib cage lifted -No tilting of head at turns -Pleasant eye contact with each judge -Smooth turns and sets -- always "pointing" at the judges -Hands relaxed and in proper place, not on dress -Fingers not showing nervousness by twisting and bending -Confident presence in self, in set, walking, or turning -Control of her face (no deer in the headlights or freezing smile) Dress and Style_____________________________________________________________ -Style appropriate for age (not to sexy or too mature/old Abundant cleavage is a NO NO!) -Dress is color match for contestants skin and hair color -Dress fits body type (drop waist or empire waist fits hips etc.) -Dress functions (no slip dragging or tripping over or kicking of dress,no strings hanging on dress of slip) -Beading and accents captures girl's style and beauty -No old styles with an unkempt look about it (no stains,strings, or rips.) Inward Beauty/ Facial Beauty _______________________________ -Facial beauty, cheekbones, eye shape and smile -Skin clarity and color, make up just right -No facial feature disproportion to face size -Eyes bright and relaxed and brows shaped -Warm and inviting smile, (braces are normal & aren't counted off) -Hair clean and natural polished and finished look -If colored –quality job, no roots. Hair not tight on head with ringlets -No braids or other distracting styles, appropriate hair accessories -Contestant appears at peace with herself -Contestant poised and relaxed with her image Overall Impression___________________________________________________ -Contestant is confident -Contestant is having a great time and is relaxed -Contestant wants the crowd to be having a great time -Contestant’s natural personality is contagious and engaging -Contestant has an overall pleasing and confident look about her -Contestant dress, makeup and modeling was far superior to 90% of other contestants Each category scores 10 points. Pick your top 2 girls during the opening number Red White and Blue Fashion Show and mark their numbers or dress down to look at more carefully during the individual Scoring of each girl. Score with 7, 8, 9, 9.5 and 10’s. Those girls with little style or confidence score with 7 and 8’ s. Those girls with confidence, style and proper dress score with 8 and 9’s. And those girls with some confidence, great style and dress, above average modeling, score with a 9 or 9.5. If you see a girl that has grand personal style, super face and hairstyle, superior modeling, and stage confidence score her with all 10’s or maybe a 9.5 and 10. GOOD LUCK! Keep your numbers in the right places with the correct girls. Don’t over think it and keep a keen eye for the winner. If it is between beauty and confidence...go with confidence. If it is between dress and confidence...go with confidence. If it is between interview and confidence...go with confidence! Once you judge yourself and are honest about each contestant you will be judging like a pro. I hope this information will allow you to become a great contestant! | ROYALTY TITLES MISS PATRIOTISM Over All Title Miss Patriotism is the one girl that scores the highest overall in the pageant by entering all the Royalty Titles ,she will receive crown,sash, & ride in parade on float, She must enter; Miss American Beauty (score given for portfolio), Miss Spirit of America (score given for community service), Miss American Queen ( total amount of funds raised added to score), Miss American Sweetheart (total amount of funds collected added to score). _________________________________________________________________ Miss American Beauty This year the MISS MEMORIAL DAY ORGANIZATION will recognize all contestants whom work hard to develop a portfolio. This is a separate competition costing $25 to enter. The winner of this competition will be awarded the title & sash. The judges will be looking for 6-15 photographs that include 8x10, full body, 3/4, and head shots. We will be looking for color, B&W, two tone, and other styles. Scoring will be looking for quality of photos(NO paper copies) great shots, eyes in camera, color coordination of clothes & backgrounds, subject's photogenic quality. Portfolio books can be purchased at Staples and should have a COVER sheet in the front of the book with her name,age, division on the sheet. |
| MISS AMERICAN QUEEN Each year the Miss Memorial Day organization works with an organization to encourage patriotism. This year we will again be raising funds for the"2012VOUR VOTE COUNTS!" Project. Each contestant can raise PRE PAGEANT funds to be used by the pageant during the year for the year's programs and for purchasing the materials needed for the parade float. The one contestant that raised the most funds will be awarded the title Miss American Queen. MISS AMERICAN SWEETHEART The audience can dollar vote for their favorite contestant. The contestant with the most cash votes will be sashed Miss American Sweetheart. Funds go towards the Miss Memorial Day Scholarship Fund, and supplies for Memorial Day float.
