Our Service Project for this year is

"2011 MILITARY SALUTE!"

Funds collected by the contestants for the Miss American Queen
title will be used to design, built,& decorate the Dacula Memorial Day
Queens Float for the Parade.  Floats cost upwards of $1500 dollars
and we hope each contestant will help raise funds for the float.  We
will also be exploring the Wounded Warrior Program to see how
additional funds can be used to support Georgia's First Lady,  Mrs
Deal, wife of Governor Nathan Deal, with her choosen program.

We hope all contestants will want to work towards these two
programs as their hours can be used towards the over all title of
Miss Patriotism as well as for service hours for the President's
Service Award. Funds can be gathered from business, friends and
family members.  You can hold a garage sale or bake sale to raise
funds.

Miss Memorial Day Princess 2007,

addressing letters to our deployed

The 2007 Service Project
Our queens served to gather over 400 Letters Of Goodwill to
send to our active troops in harms way, the Veterans in our
local Veterans Hospital and to the returning wounded at Walter
Reed Army Hospital in Washington DC.  The letters were
written by the parade goers at the 2007 Dacula Memorial Day
Parade and Festival and then were sorted, addressed and
mailed by our Queen and her Court.

Our 2007 Miss  Memorial Day
Queen, Miss Audra Gibson
enjoys a military escort on
Parade Day in Dacula.  There
was an air of pride and
patriotism as the Queen meet
with the men of this military
unit.  Our Finest and Bravest
were on hand to be in the
Dacula Memorial Day Parade.
Military service provides our
country the freedoms to enjoy
Life,  Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness.
The Dacula Memorial Day Parade and
Festival  is in honor of the United State's
Veterans.  Memorial Day is set aside for the
country to honor and remember our fellow
citizens who gave their lives for our freedom.
This slice of Americana, a thirteen year
tradition, is designed and managed by
Parade Director, Marvin Atherton. Once a
small town gathering with entries touting
themselves, the parade now works to have
entries be patriotic in nature, colorful in style,
honoring of our military, promoting our
country, and recognizing our Veterans.  This
change can be seen in the many floats and
decorated units that pass through the city
parade route each Memorial Day come rain
or shine.
